LENTEN 2ND COLLECTION: Envelopes are available at the entrance of the church.  You may also use SnapScan or Yoco for the contributions, but please stipulate Lenten Appeal. This is the last week for the Lenten Collections.

GOOD FRIDAY COLLECTION: This collection is taken up each year for the support of the places of pilgrimage in the Holy Land. You may also use SnapScan or Yoco for the contributions, but please stipulate Good Friday.

STATIONS OF THE CROSS: Station of the Cross will be in the Cathedral at 10h00, using the Maude Sumner Stations. The Stations will be led by Fr Robert and Fr Christian.  All are welcome.

CHRISM MASS:  This will take place on Thursday, 17 April at 10h00 at Immaculate Conception, Parow. All are welcome.

ALTAR SERVICE PRACTICE:  There will be Altar Service Practice on Thursday, 17 April at 17h30 and on Saturday, 19 April at 18h30 in the Cathedral.

EASTER VIGIL PRACTICE: There will be a practice on Saturday 19 April at 09h30 for all those who are being baptised, received and confirmed at the Easter Vigil. Please make sure that everyone is present as it can be a complicated ceremony.

TRIDUUM: The Triduum is one celebration that occurs over three days. It is important to recognise the integrity of the celebration.  All three ceremonies,  Mass Lord’s Supper, the Veneration of the Cross and the Easter Vigil form part of a single realisation of our faith, and therefore, our hope in resurrection. The Mass of the Lord’s supper gives us the context – which we repeat in memory of Him at each Mass; the Veneration of the Cross remembers the sacrifice of Jesus – which restores the disobedience of Adam, as the substance of our salvation; the Easter Vigil celebrates the effect of salvation – which is the  resurrection. The Triduum is what it means to be a Catholic, it is the celebration of who we are because of Jesus Christ. Come and celebrate this reality with all of those who are to be baptised, received and confirmed this Triduum in our Cathedral.

ALMS GIVING DURING LENT: As a Lenten custom in our Parish, we will be collecting litres of long-life full-cream milk to mix with the ePap for the feeding scheme at St Mary’s School. This makes a huge difference in the learning lives of these young people. All donations may be placed in the baskets at the entrances to the Cathedral, Nazareth House or Villa Maria. This is the last week for milk donations, please remember this good cause!

SVDP DONATIONS: As part of our Lenten observance, donations of canned goods may be made to the SVDP. Almsgiving is an essential tenet of Lent and recognising the needs around us and responding, is practically living out our faith. Don’t forget to drop off your donations in the baskets at the doors to the Churches.

EASTER WEEK:  Please be aware that in Easter Week there will be no Masses at the Cathedral. All Masses will be as if it were a Public Holiday: Villa Maria (Mon, Wed, Fri) at 08h00 and Nazareth House (Tue, Thurs) at 09h00. Please note this is the Octave of Easter and is the week after Easter. It should not be confused with Holy Week

SECRET GARDEN COFFEE SHOP:  If you are around on a Saturday morning pop into our coffee shop that is up and running at the Cathedral Garden until lunch time every Saturday. Come and support us as we grow this opportunity and ministry.

THE SHORTENED JUBILEE PRAYER:

Father in heaven, may the faith you have given us in your Son, Jesus Christ, our brother, and the flame of charity enkindled in our hearts by the Holy Spirit, reawaken in us the blessed hope for the coming of your kingdom.

May the grace of the Jubilee reawaken in us, Pilgrims of Hope, a yearning for the treasures of heaven.  May that same grace spread the joy and peace of our Redeemer throughout the earth.  To you our God, eternally blessed, be glory and praise for ever, Amen.

COMMUNAL ACT OF THANKSGIVING O Sacrament most holy, O Sacrament divine! All praise and all thanksgiving, be every moment thine. (X3)
We are always thankful to all those who contribute financially each week. Please prayerfully consider making a donation as it does benefit our parish in many important ways. You are also welcome to use SnapScan or the YOCO tap machines to make a donation.
