THANK YOU: We extend our sincere thanks to everyone who contributed to making our Father’s Day celebrations so special last weekend. We are deeply grateful to all who generously gave of their time and talents by preparing, serving, donating, and helping behind the scenes. Thank you also to everyone who joined us in celebrating the fathers, grandfathers, godfathers, and father figures in our parish family. May God bless you all abundantly for your generosity, kindness, and faithful service.
SECOND COLLECTION: Please note that a second collection will be taken up at all Masses next weekend in support of Peter’s Pence. This annual collection is a tangible expression of our unity with the Holy Father and assists him in responding to the needs of the Universal Church, as well as providing charitable assistance to those most in need around the world. We thank you in advance for your prayerful generosity and support.
STANDING IN SOLIDARITY AGAINST XENOPHOBIA: We are deeply saddened by the ongoing incidents of xenophobia in our country and the fear and uncertainty these have caused, especially for many in our community who come from other nations. As we approach the planned marches on 30 June, we are called as a parish to reaffirm our unity and our commitment to the values of the Gospel. We stand together as one family in Christ, embracing all members of our parish, particularly those who have made South Africa their home from other lands. Your presence enriches our community, and we assure you of our prayers, support, and friendship during this challenging time. The Gospel calls us to recognise the dignity and worth of every human being, created in the image of God. We uphold the rule of law and its legal implementation and reject all forms of violence, intimidation, and vigilantism. Such actions have no place in our society or our parish. We echo the words of Christ, who commands us to love our neighbour without distinction. Many people are being displaced or live in fear. We invite all parishioners to respond with compassion and generosity. Please consider donating non-perishable foods and toiletries. These items will be distributed to those in need through trusted parish contacts and outreach teams. Your contribution, no matter how small, will bring comfort and hope to those affected. Please drop of all donations at the Parish Office or at Mass.
In all we do, let us strive to see Christ in each person we encounter. May we recognise the image of God in others, our neighbour, the vulnerable and those who are next to us in the pews!
ARCHBISHOP SIPUKA AND CARDINAL BRISLIN: Archbishop Sipuka and Cardinal Brislin have travelled to Rome, where Archbishop Sipuka will receive his Pallium from Pope Leo XIV on the Solemnity of Saints Peter and Paul, 29 June. Cardinal Brislin will participate in the Consistory with Pope Leo XIV where he will address his brother Cardinals as the keynote speaker of session 3. We pray that the Lord will fill him with His Holy Spirit, as he speaks and serves the Universal Church. With pride, joy and gratitude, we assure Archbishop Sipuka and Cardinal Brislin of the prayers and support of the Cathedral parish community.
RCIA 2026: This is the final week to register for our Parish RCIA programme, which begins in July 2026. If you are interested in becoming Catholic, are a Catholic adult wishing to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation or simply wish to deepen your understanding of the Catholic faith, we warmly invite you to join us. Sessions take place on Sundays at 09h00. Registration closes on Tuesday, 30 June 2026, and no late registrations will be accepted. If you have been considering joining, now is the time to register. CARLENE ON LEAVE: Please note that our Cathedral Secretary will be on leave from Tuesday, 30 June until Tuesday, 21 July. We wish Carlene a blessed and restful break and look forward to welcoming her back later in July.

CATECHISM CLASSES: Please note that Catechism classes have stopped for the school holidaysand will resume on Sunday 26 July. We wish all our children, parents, catechists, and teachers a blessed, peaceful, and restful holiday. May this be a time of joy, refreshment, and God’s abundant blessings for you and your families.
