MORTUARY LIST: November is dedicated to the Holy Souls, a special time when the Church invites us to remember and pray for those in Purgatory. The most meaningful prayer we can offer for the Holy Souls, who rely on our help, is the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass. If you wish to take part in the mortuary list, you are encouraged to write the names of your departed loved ones and friends, include an offering, and place these in the envelopes available at the entrances of the Chapels and parish hall. Kindly drop your envelope into the collection baskets. Your prayers and participation are deeply appreciated.

SECOND COLLECTION:  This weekend a second collection will take place at all Masses in aid of Prison Ministry. Envelopes are available at the entrances of the Chapels.

CATHEDRAL RETURN: Due to unforeseen and potentially fortuitous circumstances we are temporarily returning to the Cathedral until 15 January 2026. From this weekend all Cathedral Masses will return to the Cathedral building and not the Hall. We will keep the current Mass times:

Saturday Evening 17h00                         Sunday Morning 10h00                    Sunday evening 17h00

The only exception will be this Sunday evening Mass (17h00), which will remain at Nazareth House as there has not been enough time to revert to the Cathedral. This will happen from next weekend.

Please note weekday Masses will remain in the Chancery Chapel.

Thank you to everyone who have helped our return to the Cathedral on such short notice!

FIRST HOLY COMMUNION: Will take place on the Feast of Christ the King, 23 November. Please keep our young people in your prayers as they make their final preparations for this important Sacrament.

HOLY HOUR: Pope Leo has asked for a Holy Hour in each Parish on the Feast of Christ the King in order to mark the end of the Jubilee on the Parish Level.  Given the dynamics of the Cathedral, our Holy Hour will be from 08h45 to 09h45 on Sunday 23 November. We, therefore, ask all parishioners to come to Mass as early as possible for this Holy Hour. This is a holy way to celebrate the end of the Jubilee in the Cathedral Parish. We will end with Benediction at 09h45 with FHC Mass at 10h00. Please make every effort to attend.

BAPTISM:  Baptism instruction class will take place on Sunday, 23 November, at 11h00 at the Parish Centre. The Sacrament of Baptism will take place on the weekend of 29/30 November. The Baptism Enquiry Forms are available at the entrances of the chapels.  Please complete and return to the parish office, no later than the 16 November.

PPC MEETING: On Tuesday, 18 November at 18h30 at the Parish Hall.

PRIEST ANNUAL RETREATS:  Fr Robert will be on retreat next week, 17-21 November.

READERS TRAINING: As was decided at the Readers Meeting this last week: there is a COMPULSORY training for all readers in the Parish. Cathedral Readers training will be on Saturday 29 November at 10h00 with Msgr. Borello. Nazareth House readers are to please meet with Fr Robert after Mass on Sunday to establish your training date and time. This training will also be with Msgr. Borello.

WORLD DAY OF THE POOR: On Saturday, 15 November at 09h30, the SVP will be preparing sandwiches in the Parish Hall to be distributed on Sunday, 16 November. Parishioners are invited to assist by bringing bread, a knife, and something to put on the sandwiches (e.g. peanut butter, jam, polonies, etc.).“Many hands make light work” – the more help we have, the more we can make a difference! Donations towards the sandwiches are also most welcome. Let’s come together as a community, mark this meaningful day, and make a positive impact.

MASS FOR DECEASED CLERGY AND BENEFACTORS:  On Tuesday, 25 November at 11h00 an at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Rondebosch. All are welcome to attend.

THE SHORTENED JUBILEE PRAYER: (On Screens)

Father in heaven, may the faith you have given us in your Son, Jesus Christ, our brother, and the flame of charity enkindled in our hearts by the Holy Spirit, reawaken in us the blessed hope for the coming of your kingdom. May the grace of the Jubilee reawaken in us, Pilgrims of Hope, a yearning for the treasures of heaven.  May that same grace spread the joy and peace of our Redeemer throughout the earth.  To you our God, eternally blessed, be glory and praise for ever, Amen.

We are always thankful to all those who contribute financially each week. Please prayerfully consider making a donation as it does benefit our parish in many important ways. You are also welcome to use SnapScan or the YOCO tap machines to make a donation.
